Pokhara’s main tourist attractions
Bindhavasini Temple:
This temple is located in the heart of the religious old market. It is dedicated to Goddess Bhagwati, another manifestation of power. The park grounds offer a relaxing and beautiful picnic area.
Davi’s Falls:
Located in the southern part of the Pokhara Valley, locally known as Patle Chhango, it is famous for its waterfall that forms an underground tunnel that is 500 feet (150 meters) long and 100 feet (30 meters) below ground level. It is extremely popular with both tourists and locals.
Gupteshwar Cave:
The venerable Gupteshwar Cave is located 2 kilometers from Pokhara Airport and the entrance is just opposite Davi’s Falls. The cave is about 3 kilometers long. Upon entering, you will come across large hall-shaped chambers and some passages that you have to crawl around. This cave holds special value for Hindus because the cosmic symbol of Lord Shiva is preserved in the state it was discovered in.
Seti River Ghat:
Carved by the Seti Gandaki River, it is one of the natural wonders of Pokhara. The K.I. Singh Bridge at Bagar, the Mahendra Bridge near the bus park, and the Prithvi Highway Bridge offer the best views of the deep gorges formed by the river’s ferocious currents and turbulent flow of white water.
Tibetan Refugee Camp:
The Tibetan village of Tashiling in the south and Tashi Palkhel village in the north of Pokhara are famous for the production and trade of woolen carpets and other handicrafts. The original Tibetans living in this area migrated to Nepal in the 1950s.
World Peace Stupa:
Locally known as the Pokhara Shanti Stupa, it is a Buddhist stupa-style monument. It is a temple built as a symbol of peace. The stupa is located at an altitude of 2,100 meters on the Ananda Hill. Out of the eighty Shanti Stupas in the world, Nepal has two, namely the Shanti Stupa in Pokhara and the Shanti Stupa in Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha. It offers a panoramic view of the Annapurna mountain range, Pokhara city and Phewa Lake.
International Mountain Museum
If you want to know the history of mountains and mountaineering activities, the International Mountain Museum is a must-visit place while in Pokhara. More than 70,000 people visit the museum every year to see and explore the exhibits that include world-famous peaks and mountaineers who have climbed the peaks, the culture and lifestyle of the people who live in the mountains. Not to forget the biology of plants and animals and the geological formations that create the mountains and their associated rock classes.
