Journey begins with a drive from Pokhara to Phedi, each turn in the road unveiling glimpses of verdant hills and the sparkling Seti River meandering through the valley. At an altitude of 1,130 meters (3,707 feet). The trail rises gently through a lush, subtropical forest where sunlight filters through a canopy of emerald leaves. As you ascend, stone steps lead you to the picturesque Dhampus Village, perched at 1,650 meters (5,413 feet). Here, the soul of the trek reveals itself in a tapestry of terraced fields, traditional Gurung homes, and vibrant flower gardens. The village, adorned with fluttering prayer flags, offers a serene pause, where life moves in harmony with nature.
Leaving Dhampus behind, the path winds upward, cutting through rhododendron thickets and pine groves, each step bringing you closer to the grandeur of the mountains. At last, you arrive at the Australian Camp, resting at a majestic 2,060m/6,758ft. From this elevated haven, the entire Annapurna range seems to reach out and embrace you, with Machhapuchhre’s sharp peak piercing the sky. In the stillness of the high camp, surrounded by Himalayan giants, the world below fades, and only the mountain’s timeless majesty remains.
Accommodation: Teahouse/ Lodge
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Leaving the tranquil heights of the Australian Base Camp at 2,060 meters (6,758 feet), the journey unfolds like a poem written on nature’s canvas. The crisp morning air carries the sweet scent of pine, and the path, adorned with wildflowers, meanders gently down through dense forests and whispering woods. Each step feels lighter, guided by the rhythm of the chirping birds and the soft rustling of leaves.
Descending along a winding trail, the landscape shifts as terraced fields appear, their emerald hues interspersed with golden patches of ripening crops. The gentle slopes lead you through quaint villages, where the smiles of locals and the distant ringing of temple bells echo a sense of harmony. Small stone houses, adorned with blooming marigolds, dot the hillside, adding a vivid splash of color against the backdrop of the rolling hills.
As you continue towards Sarangkot, a panoramic view unfolds at every turn, with the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges standing sentinel in the distance. The path ascends once more, a gentle climb that seems almost effortless under the gaze of Machhapuchhre, its peak shimmering in the sunlight.
Finally, reaching the hilltop of Sarangkot at 1,600 meters (5,249 feet), the effort of the trek is rewarded with a vista that takes your breath away. Here, at this vantage point, the world spreads out in a majestic panorama—the snow-clad peaks of the Himalayas standing proud against the sky, and below, the serene expanse of Phewa Lake reflecting the azure heavens. As the sun dips low, casting hues of gold and pink across the landscape, Sarangkot becomes a place where time seems to pause, held captive by the spellbinding beauty of the mountains and valleys below.
Accommodation: Super View Lodge
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
The descent from Sarangkot to Pokhara is more than a trek—it’s a slow unraveling of the Himalayan dreamscape into the valley of serenity below. The trail, lined with dew-kissed grasses and age-old stones, meanders through the tranquil embrace of a soft morning light, guiding you gently downward. The air is laced with the fragrance of wild herbs, carrying with it a lingering whisper of the mountains, each step leads past sleepy hamlets where life awakens at its own unhurried pace. The rustling of leaves blends with the distant sound of children’s laughter, and the clinking of prayer bells rises faintly from hidden shrines. Passing through vibrant terraces of mustard and millet, you find yourself wrapped in the tapestry of Nepal’s rural heartland—an eternal rhythm of tilling earth, grazing cattle, and the warm smiles of villagers who wave as you pass by.
Further along, the trail dips into shaded groves where sunlight filters through a canopy of leaves, casting playful shadows on the path. Here, the laughter of a hidden stream occasionally breaks the silence, its waters dancing over rocks before vanishing into the underbrush. The views of the towering Annapurnas recede gradually, like a distant dream, replaced by the gentle silhouette of the hills and the shimmering blue of Phewa Lake drawing nearer.
With each bend, the bustling lakeside town of Pokhara unfurls before you, framed by the tranquil waters and dotted with colorful boats that sway softly in the breeze. The final stretch is a gentle stroll through winding streets, where the hum of life grows steadily louder, mingling with the murmur of the lake. And as you step into Pokhara’s welcoming arms, the trek’s memories remain etched in your heart—a journey from the ethereal heights of Sarangkot to the tranquil shores of this serene lakeside haven.
