ROLWALING KALINCHOWK TREK OVERVIEW

Rolwaling Kalinchowk Trek is a non-touristy area where you can witness the breathtaking Himalayan views. Rolwaling Kalinchowk Trek takes you to the heart of the Rolwaling Himalayan range. The Rolwaling Kalinchowk trek offers beautiful Himalayan views of three different Himalayan regions – Rolwaling, Langtang and Sagarmatha ranges. The Rolwaling Kalinchowk trek leads trekkers on a pilgrimage trek to visit the Kalinchowk temple located on the side of the mountain. Rolwaling Kalinchowk is a great trek during the autumn and spring seasons but we also organize it throughout the year as per the wishes and vacation schedule of the travelers. The cost of the Rolwaling Kalinchowk trek depends on the size of the group but can also be done individually.

The Rolwaling Kalinchowk Trek starts from Barabise Bazaar, a five-hour drive from Kathmandu. The trek passes through various villages inhabited mainly by Tamang, Sherpa and Brahmin, while some monasteries and temples can also be seen on the trek. There is also a good view of the mountains and the Sunkoshi River. After passing through Sherpa villages, you will find a dense forest with many Rhododendron trees. Then you will reach Kalinchowk. From the highest elevation of Kalinchowk (3,842m), you can see a good view of Annapurna, Lamjung, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Shisha Pangma, Langtang, Dorji Lakpa, Jugal Himal, Amabamori, Gauri Shankar and Namburchuli Himal. There is also a major Hindu temple called Kali Mandir.

We have generated the Rolwaling Kalinchowk trekking itinerary as mentioned below but the itinerary may be changed or expanded as per the requirement. Two natural springs originate from this area which are called Sundhara and Tama which are the main source of the very big two rivers the Sunkoshi and Tama Koshi rivers. From Kalinchowk one could get a good view of Kathmandu at night. The main flowers of Nepal, Rhododendron (Laligurans) and the national bird, Partridge (Danphe), can also be seen in this area. While descending to Gauon Suspa, you can see a very rare community in Nepal called “The Thami” and the Rolwaling Kalinchowk trek ends at Charikot Bazaar which is also the district headquarters then return to Kathmandu or it is possible to do the Sailung trek at the same time.

Required Information

For your information, international flights and Nepal’s “entry visa fee” are not included. Rooms are usually shared by two people unless you request a private room. So if you want to upgrade to better hotels in the cities, please contact us for your customized services.

Meals on the trek

All meals are included during the trekking period. We will provide three meals a day (B,L,D) during the trek. Since this is a full camping trek, our kitchen crew will serve freshly prepared meals during the trek. We consider hearty and delicious meals as a key component to the overall success of our trip.

Accommodation on the trek

In Kathmandu, we manage a three-star hotel offering a bed and breakfast plan on a twin-sharing basis. We can also manage a single room upon your request, but at an extra cost. Likewise, if you prefer more luxurious accommodations, it is also possible, but it costs more. Yet, due to the remote location and the lack of facilities at teahouses or lodges along the trek, trekkers must stay in a tented camp throughout the expedition.

Trekking: Camping

Your accommodation during the trekking period will be fully tented camping. A tent will be provided for every 2 travellers with a foam mattress. In the case of a single, we will arrange a single tent for you by default at no additional cost. There will also be a kitchen tent, dining tent, toilet tent, table, chairs, and more for your comfort. Our trekking team will carry all of the tent equipment for your worry-free and easy journey.

Typical day

Daily wake up calls will be between 6.00 am to 7.00 am while on the trek. The wake-up time and breakfast time will be decided a night before during the briefing time. The time table for each day will entirely depend on your walking duration for that particular day.

After a hearty breakfast, you set off on the day’s walk. Before breakfast, you are required to pack your duffel bag as it will be loaded by the porter while you are having your breakfast. After few hrs, of walk, you stop for lunch mid-day. The afternoon’s walk is generally shorter and you usually arrive at your destination in time for afternoon tea. The rest of the afternoon can be spent exploring the village, to wash your clothes or simply relaxing with a good book. On some days, you will arrive at your destination by lunchtime and the entire afternoon will be free. After dinner, you will heading off to bed for a well-earned sleep.
