Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trek is a delightful adventure to the foot of the third-highest mountain in the world, Kanchenjunga Mountain (8586m). The journey takes trekkers through serene wilderness with fantastic mountain views. Located between Nepal and Sikkim, the Kanchenjunga area is among the least frequented destinations where modernity has left life untouched. The trek route to Kanchenjunga Base Camp progresses through the remote land’s colorful rhododendron and pine forest. Likewise, the trip allows trekkers to explore the rich culture in the local villages and conquer the high passes for close-up views of peaks and mountains.
AlpineTrav Treks offers a 27-day itinerary during which you will visit both Kanchenjunga South Base Camp at Ramche and Kanchenjunga North Base Camp at Pang Pema. The trek’s highest point is located at an altitude of 5143m. Moreover, the trek to the Kanchenjunga is a challenging grade trek that demands more energy and determination. Thus, the trek can get challenging sometimes. The journey moves through subtropical plains to the mountain base through land with little or no settlement, offering a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

DETAILED ITINERARY
Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, our agency representative will greet you at the Arrival Gate. They will hold a sign displaying paper “Your Name,” making it easy for you to identify them amidst the bustling airport atmosphere. After exchanging pleasantries and collecting your luggage, the representative will help you get to your hotel for a smooth start to your Nepal adventures. We recommend that you schedule your arrival in Kathmandu in the morning or during the day. This will give you enough time to relax and recover from jet lag before starting your adventure. There will be a next day trip briefing later at 5:00 pm. And it will be done by your lead tour guide, covering all the important aspects of the day trip. Spend the night in Kathmandu.

You will spend a whole day sightseeing while we process your trekking permits. On this day, you can explore the heritage sites of the Kathmandu valley. Where, Durbar Square, Pashupatinath temple, Swayambhunath stupa and Bouddhanath stupa which are all world heritage sites. The Durbar Square reveals the life of the royals in ancient times. Pashupatinath temple is one of the most important places of pilgrimage for all Hindus. Swayambhunath is also known as the Monkey Temple and Baudhanath Stupa is one of the largest stupas in the world (after visit). At noon, we will hold a pre-trip meeting before your next trek. During this meeting, you will meet the trek guide and your fellow team members, and if you have any doubts, check your equipment. Spend the night in Kathmandu.

Today after breakfast, from Kathmandu, you will take an early morning flight to Bhadrapur which is located in the Mechi Zone of southeastern Nepal and then drive to Taplejung.

On Day 4 you will head to Lalikharka by 5 hours of trekking. Lalikharka is a beautiful village in Panchthar District in the Mechi Zone of eastern Nepal. It is a simultaneous ascent and descent on a trail that mostly passes through lush green forests all the way to Lalikharkha Stay overnight at Lalikharkha

Today you begin your trek to Khesewa after breakfast. It is mostly an easy descent until Phundrawa. From here you'll begin your ascent. It is a steep climb until Yangpang from where you'll climb steadily up until Phumphe Danda followed by another ascent to Khesewa. Your trek will be through forests and small villages. Overnight in Khesewa.

After breakfast, today you'll begin your trek towards the Kabeli Khola. Next, you will walk on a trail that passes through forests before crossing a small stream. On the way, you'll enjoy amazing views of the Himalayan peaks while also passing through several beautiful small villages. Overnight in Mamankhe.

Afret breakfast, today’s trek will be mostly uphill on an easy trail whereby you'll mostly walk alongside the Kabeli Khola. During the walk, you also admire the beautiful ridge behind the stream. You'll continue your walk and admire a beautiful waterfall nearby. After walking for some time, you'll cross a small suspension bridge. You will pass through small settlements before reaching Yamphudin to spend the night.

Today, you 'll begin your walk on a path commonly used by the villagers and pass through terraced farms and green meadows. Along the way, you have the constant company of the Himalayas to enjoy. Your walk will be on a trail along the Amji Khola. You'll also cross a pass at Lassiya Bhanjyang before reaching Tortong. Overnight in Tortong.

Today you'll begin your steady climb to Cheram after breakfast. Your trail is right at the side of the Simbuwa Khola. You'll enjoy walking in the beautiful Lalung valley and have Tuplung peak for the company for the most of today’s journey. You pass through thick rhododendron forest and enjoy the magnificence of the Yalung Glacier. Overnight in Cheram.

Today you will spend a day in Cheram which will help you acclimatize to the high altitude. You can spend the rest of the day resting and taking part in small hikes. You can explore the areas around the Yalung Glacier. There is also a viewpoint for Kabaru and Rathong peaks. Overnight in Cheram.

Today you begin your short trek after breakfast. From Cheram, you'll ascend for sometime before reaching the snout of the Yalung Glacier. It is a beautiful walk on a valley trail. You'll also cherish the views of several Himalayan peaks. You will pass through a small settlement of Lapsang before reaching Ramche. Overnight in Ramche.

From Ramche, you will walk further up the valley. You then follow a stream before climbing on the moraine top until confronted by Kanchenjunga’s southern face. You walk further ahead for a glimpse of the Jannu Himal. You'll continue your trek further towards the Oktang Monastery. From here, you'll climb further up and reach the Yalung Base Camp. The views from the base camp are extraordinary. Kumbakarna (Jannu), Nyukla Lachung and other Himalayan peaks are close by. Then you'll descend and spend the night at Cheram.

Today you'll begin your trek after breakfast. You'll cross four passes today beginning with Sinelapche Bhanjyang. After crossing the pass, you'll continue to Mirgin La pass. You will continue trekking and reach the Sinion La pass which is not very far. From here, you'll ascend to Sele La pass. There are prayer flags strung across one of the steeper sections of the trail which is very near to the Sele La pass. You will cross the pass. Overnight in Sele La.

Today you'll begin your trek after breakfast. You will walk towards the north with Tangbgharma Danda nearby. Then you will reach a chorten marked by prayer flags which marks the start of a steep trail. After you'll descend through rhododendron, birch and pine forests before reaching Ghunsa. It is a beautiful village with houses with dark and weathered pine walls and Buddhist prayer flags. Overnight in Ghunsa.

From Ghunsa, your trek further north along the river bank which presents you with magnificent mountain scenery. You'll pass through meadows filled with beautiful wildflowers, then cross rhododendron and pine forests. You will cross a bridge at Rampuk Kharka, continue past a waterfall and cross the tricky section of a landslide. After crossing the landslide area, you begin to see the spectacular view of Mt. Jannu. Further exploring and tackling the tricky mountain trail you'll finally arrive at Kambachen and spend the night.

After breakfast today you will be another challenging day, and an early start is needed. Your trek through rocky fields and large boulders on the hillside along the riverbank and arrive at a waterfall. You then cross a bridge to Ramtang monastery. you will then come across a landslide section which you'll must pass through at a steady pace before descending to the river and finally arriving at Lhonak. Overnight in Lhonak.

Today from Lhonak, your trek towards the Kanchenjunga Base Camp. Your trail is alongside the gigantic Kanchenjunga Glacier. After passing Pangpema, you'll descend towards the Kanchenjunga Base Camp. The view from the base camp is extraordinary. Mt. Kanchenjunga, Jannu Himal, and other Himalayan peaks are yours to admire. You will descend back to Pangpema to spend the night.

From Pangpema you'll trace back your steps to Lhonak. Overnight in Lhonak.

From Lhonak, you'll descend all the way to Ghunsa via Kambache. It is the same route you will took when you were climbing up.

From Ghunsa, you'll descend towards Phale. You will pass through several Manes and a monastery nearby. You'll walk through Juniper forests and reach Phale. From here, it is a steady descent to Gyabla. Then you'll cross a bridge over Chhundatangka Khola to reach Gyabla. As you continue your trek, you'll see a waterfall nearby. You will also cross a suspension bridge over Sumbung Khola before reaching Amjilosa. Overnight in Amjilosa.

After walking for a while, you'll see a beautiful waterfall nearby. Then you will continue your trek and pass a small settlement of Solima before crossing a suspension bridge over Ghunsa Khola. You'll cross another suspension bridge over Ghunsa Khola and reach Sukathum. Your trail passes through several villages and is beside Thunsa Khola at first followed by Tamor Nadi before reaching Chirwa. Overnight in Chirwa.

Amazing journey to the Kanchenjunga circuit comes to an end today, you will take a scenic morning flight from Bhadrapur to Kathmandu, which will be the end of your incredible Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek. Enjoy the aerial view of the Himalayan peaks and lush valleys as you bid farewell to the Kanchenjunga. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel, where you can relax or explore the city’s vibrant streets and markets. Overnight in Kathmandu.

- The Trekkers' Information Management Systems permit issued by the trekking agency association of Nepal is required to enter the area of Kanchenjunga Conservation area, so AlpineTrav Treks provide you a TIMS permit too.

NEPAL VISA INFORMATION
Visa on Arrival: Most nationalities can obtain a visa upon arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu.
Visa Fees: A 15-day multiple-entry visa costs USD 30, a 30-day visa costs USD 50, and a 90-day visa costs USD 125.
Application Process: Visitors should fill out a visa application form, which is available online or at the airport, and provide a passport-sized photo and payment in cash.
Requirements: A valid passport with at least six months remaining validity and a blank page for the visa stamp is required. Ensure you carry sufficient USD cash for the visa fee as not all payment methods are accepted.
MEALS
You will be served breakfast in Kathmandu whereas all meals including breakfast, lunch and dinner will be available during the Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek. While on trek, you have breakfast and dinner in the tea-houses/lodges you spend the night and lunch on your way to the next destination. Nepalese, Tibetan, the more common continental and Indian cuisines are common choices in the menu.
ACCOMMODATION
You will be staying in hotel Vajra in Kathmandu; and teahouses during the trek. All accommodations are on twin-shared basis. Single supplement will be served on request and will cost an additional. Understand that the Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek involves trekking in remote locations so the restroom facilities in the tea-houses will be basic.
TEAM COMPOSITION
For the Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trek, there will be one guide, assistant guide (4 trekkers: 1 assistant guide) and porters for luggage carrying. This arrangement ensures that even if someone in the group gets sick or is unable to carry on, the trip can still go ahead as planned for the rest of the group. We can run the trek for groups of any size, but usually a maximum of twelve people is ideal as we’ve found this to be the optimum size for a successful trip for teahouse/ camping trekking.
