INFORMATION ABOUT KTM-LUKLA-KATHMANDU FLIGHTS
Lukla flight operations for Everest region trekking. When planning a trek to the Everest region, it is important to be aware of the domestic flight operations to Lukla, which are affected by seasonal factors. To avoid confusion, we would like to clarify the following:
Peak season flight operations (March, April, May, October and November) Lukla flights will be diverted from Kathmandu to Ramechhap/Manthali due to increased air traffic. This diversion is necessary to reduce congestion at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. As a result, trekkers will have to drive 4-5 hours from Kathmandu to Manthali Airport in Ramechhap district before boarding the Lukla flight.
Flight operations During non-peak months, flights from Kathmandu to Lukla will operate as normal. Factors affecting Lukla flight operations. It is important to note that the unpredictability of Lukla flights is not solely due to air traffic. Other factors such as weather conditions, natural disasters, and airport congestion can also cause delays or cancellations. The Nepal Aviation Authority and airlines take these factors into account when making flight operation decisions to ensure safe and efficient travel. Therefore, understanding these factors, travelers need to allow 1 buffer day.

AlpineTrav Treks & Expeditions has a capable team of trekking leaders and mountain teams who are highly skilled in dealing with any difficulties or emergencies that may arise during the trip. If you feel sick from altitude, the first thing you should do is inform your leader so that he or she knows what to do. With years of experience, he or she can sense the severity of the situation and respond accordingly, either by bringing you down to a lower altitude or by using a helicopter to rescue you. If for some reason the helicopter is unable to fly, we will use our local staff and contacts to coordinate alternative rescue and treatment procedures, which may mean using a horse or stretcher to transport the sick person down the mountain to the nearest health post or a safe helicopter landing site.
